How to use it
- Drop your HEIC files into the box above, or choose them from your device.
- Each photo is decoded and saved as a PNG in a few seconds.
- Download the PNG files one by one, or all together as a ZIP.
When to pick PNG instead of JPG
PNG is a lossless format. It keeps every pixel exactly as it was decoded, with no extra compression damage. That makes it a good choice when you plan to edit the photo further, add text or graphics on top, or keep a clean master copy.
The trade-off is size. A PNG made from a photograph is usually much larger than the HEIC original and larger than a JPG. If you only need to share or upload a photo, the HEIC to JPG converter gives a smaller file.
About HEIC and PNG
HEIC stores photos compactly using the HEVC video codec, and it is the default camera format on recent iPhones. PNG was designed for graphics and screenshots, and it supports transparency. Photos do not have transparent areas, so a PNG from HEIC is simply a lossless copy of the picture.
Private by design
The conversion runs locally in your browser. Photos are not uploaded, which keeps personal pictures off other people's servers. The PNG files do not include location data or camera details from the original.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to our server or to anyone else. You can confirm this in your browser's developer tools: the network tab shows no image data leaving the page.
Is PNG better quality than JPG?
PNG does not lose quality when it is saved, while JPG discards some detail to reduce file size. For a photo that is already decoded from HEIC, a PNG keeps all of that detail, but the file will be larger.
Why are the PNG files so large?
PNG stores images without lossy compression, and photographs contain a lot of fine detail. Expect each file to be several times larger than the HEIC photo.
Can I convert many photos at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like, up to 100 per batch, and download them together as a ZIP.
