How to use it
- Drop your .jfif files into the box, or choose them from your device.
- Leave the quality at 95 unless you want smaller files.
- Download the JPG files one by one or as a ZIP.
What a JFIF file is
JFIF stands for JPEG File Interchange Format. A .jfif file holds an ordinary JPEG image. Some programs, and older Windows versions in particular, save pictures from the web with that extension, and some apps and upload forms then refuse to open them.
Two ways to fix it
Because the picture inside is already a JPEG, simply renaming the file from .jfif to .jpg works in most cases and changes nothing in the image. This tool is the alternative when renaming is awkward, for example with a whole folder, or when you also want to lower the file size. It opens the picture and saves it again as a JPG, which applies a small amount of fresh compression.
Quality
The default of 95 keeps the result close to the original. Lower it for smaller files. Metadata such as location and camera details is not copied into the new file.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The work runs inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never sent to our server or to anyone else. You can confirm this in your browser's developer tools: the network tab shows no file data leaving the page.
Can I just rename the file?
Usually yes. Change .jfif to .jpg. If the app still refuses the file, use this converter.
Will converting reduce quality?
Slightly, since the image is saved again. At the default setting the change is hard to see.
Why do pictures download as JFIF?
Some browsers and older systems label JPEG downloads with that extension. The image itself is a normal JPEG.
