Why PNG for PDF pages

PNG keeps edges crisp, which suits pages with fine print and line drawings. A JPG of the same page can show faint blur around letters. If your PDF is mainly photographs, the PDF to JPG converter gives smaller files.

How it works

Your browser reads the PDF and draws each page onto a canvas at the resolution you choose. That image is then saved as a PNG, with a white background. One PDF page becomes one file, numbered in order, and you can download them one by one or as a single ZIP.

Picking the right size

72 dpi matches the size of the page on a screen. 150 dpi is a good balance for reading and sharing. 300 dpi suits printing and for A4 gives roughly 2480 by 3508 pixels, so expect large files. Higher resolution takes longer and uses more memory, so lower it if the page struggles to convert.

Good to know

Password-protected files need their password removed first. The images are pictures of the pages, so text in them cannot be selected. Up to 300 pages are converted from each file.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The work runs inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never sent to our server or to anyone else. You can confirm this in your browser's developer tools: the network tab shows no file data leaving the page.

Does PNG keep transparency?

PDF pages are drawn on a white background, so the PNG has no transparent areas.

How do I get just one page?

Convert the file and download the page you need, or cut the PDF down first with the Split PDF tool.

Why are the PNG files so large?

PNG is lossless and pages at high resolution hold many pixels. Use a lower resolution, or choose PDF to JPG for smaller files.
